OKU SHIGURE, current owner of the RAKUEN mechanic shop in the outskirts of karakura town. handling all things old, they focus on the restoration of old timers & motorcycles these days. the neighbors know them as a friendly, albeit gruff hard worker - always willing to help out around the neighborhood in exchange for little offerings like cigarettes, food or sake.a stark contrast to how they are known/remembered in the soul society by a select few. former captain of the 7th division, they were dishonorably discharged after the murder of their lieutenant, sakamoto atsuo, and the massacre of the sumiyoshi noble house. declared fugitive, they were subsequently exiled from the seireitei - their exact whereabouts unknown until they are eventually revealed to have been hiding out in karakura town for the past 120 years or so.

their zanpakuto, (name to be added don't look at me) has the power to manipulate time and someone's perception of it - even to a point where it will draw in the possibility of a different timeline and altering the outcome of it ; albeit paired with great risk that if - used in the wrong moment, will cost them their life.SHIKAI.

once released, their zanpakuto turns into a double bladed polearm - each side representing either the acceleration of time, or the deceleration of it in any area that the blade cuts or touches. this works on inanimate objects as well as living beings. shigure has used it to slow their own bleeding from the wound inflicted to their back which is the only reason they ended up surviving the night of the massacre.

BANKAI.
running on the concept of high risk and high reward, their bankai has a very specific requirement to make it work - which is their death. their bankai activates the moment a fatal wound or ailment is inflicted upon them, pulling in an alternative timeline in which shigure does die to that wound and merging it with the current reality for the fraction of a moment before splitting again and wrapping itself around the mind of their opponent, trapping them in a loop of their death again and again; practically rendering them motionless for the duration of it.
shigure meanwhile remains unharmed from that fatal strike, however, does retain any wounds and ailments she received before that fatal strike.
due to their bankai merging two timelines, shigure remembers and feels every death they "lived" through.

BACKSTORY: (bullet points only for now, detailed description will be added soon.)EARLY LIFE:
-grows up in arashikawa, district 78 of western rukongai-eventually joins shin'ō academy two years before kyōraku shunsui and jūshirō ukitake do and is pushed to graduate early in her 4th year.-joins the 7th division as a 5th seat-advocates for rukongai relations-eventual acquisition of their bankai & promotion to captain after years of vacancyCAPTAINCY:
-remodeling of the 7th division to handle rukongai relations with their main duties. plans for aid and proper supply routes throughout the districts are being drafted-establishing of contacts in the rukongai, visits the varying districts often to build trust-discovers odd missing cases in the lower districts of western rukongai, including arashikawa where they grew up-files an official report and starts investigations. after several weeks worth of seemingly no developments
- they are told to resume their normal duties and drop the issue.-they dont.-the disappearances start again, however with the help of their lieutenant they almost manage to catch whatever is doing this red handed, but are left with nothing but a little pin left behind at the scene of the crime.-they bring the evidence to the gotei, only to be summoned by the central 46 and ordered to present their case-deemed irrelevant evidence, central 46 orders her to cease her investigations, hand over all the evidence they've gathered and once again. resume their normal daily duties.-drop it shigure. bad shigure.-she doesnt.-continuing her investigations in private, she is joined by her lieutenant and together they eventually discover that ; through several intermediaries and hired goons, the sumiyoshi noble family is behind the dissapereances.- the sumiyoshi family has their fingers in all sorts of pies, some rumored to even have connections to the central 46 as well as the gotei 13.-not knowing who to trust and against her lieutenants insisting advice to drop the issue, shigure continues on on her own, breaking into several sumiyoshi warehouses only to find nothing-their division gets ordered to cease all missions in the rukongai and return to seireitei to undergo inspection under suspicion of corruption and misuse of power.-shigure breaks into the main mansion of the sumiyoshi family & discovers a extensive hidden laboratory underneath as well as some of the missing rukongai citizens, mutilated and dead.- stabbed in the back by their lieutenant who's been in sumiyoshi's pocket the entire time. overcome with rage, shigure snaps ; murdering her lieutenant and subsequently every person she can find in the sumiyoshi mansion with no exception.-depending on the verse, we follow either her escape to the world of the living and her life in exile OR she gets imprisoned at the maggots nest - kept away from former colleagues who might have believed her and questioned the official story that claims her sudden insanity and eventual demise after brutally murdering several shinigami and innocent civillians.- either way, she was promptly discharged, her records blacked out and her personal effects have been confiscated and destroyed. oku shigure is a stain on the gotei 13's record and all of her work at the rukongai was discredited and abandoned.

dont read this yet it aint finished.shigure is born in district 78 of western rukongai, called arashikawa together with a boy called hisashi.

eventually joins the shin'ō academy and is pushed to graduate in their 4th year, excelling in zanjutsu as well as hakuda - so much so in the latter that they are asked to tutuor and teach the first year hakuda course in the academy after their graduation.
they join the 7th division as a 5th seat and continuously work their way up the ranks, trying to advocate for rukongai relations but keep being brushed off - fueling their pettiness and anger, to the point where they push themselves ahead of the curve so much until they achieve bankai - eventually filling up the vacant captaincy seat of their division.

supported by their vice captain, sakamoto atsuo, shigure restructures the 7th division and turns its focus to the rukongai ; drafting up plans for easy supply routes and aid to especially the outer districts. establishing neighborhood watches instead of increasing shinigami patrols, shigure makes an active effort as a former resident of the outer districts to improve the quality of life they would have enjoyed to have themselves throughout their childhood.they are supported in that endeavor by their former childhood friend hisashi - who they finally managed to reconnect with after they lost contact once shigure joined the academy to become a shinigami.

living as an exile in the world of the living for the past 200+ years, oku shigure has somehow eventually managed to carve out a little piece of paradise after years of solitude and pain. they lead a little mechanic workshop, aptly calling it "rakuen". nowadays, they mostly work on old timer cars and motor bikes, though also take on more general jobs around the neighborhood - making them effectively more of an odd job worker; something they find themselves relatively good with, considering their centuries worth of experience. trigger warnings for dissociation, panic attacks, chronic pain and extremely bad self care bordering on self harm

they never manage to slip away after the massacre of the sumiyoshi family. knowing they are about to face the entire wrath of the central 46 and the noble houses - shigure decides, in a last act of spite - to release their bankai and trap themselves in their own power. willingly trapping their mind in a loop of their own death, living it over and over and over again - turning their body and mind practically catatonic and useless to their captors. for centuries, their reiatsu festers in the dark cells far away from anyone who might recognize them - slowly reaching out to those around who dare to get even a single step too close.the malicious intent grows and expands over the years they are locked away, slowly but surely dragging other people into their death. other prisoners report dreaming of a sunset and feeling cold steel slice through their throat. some even never wake up from their slumber again. the first one to fall under their spell however was a gloating survivor of the sumiyoshi family, who collapsed without ever even reaching shigures cell. it is not until several hundred years later, after the thousand year blood war that they are discovered by members of the gotei 13 and released from the central 46's custody - snapping out of their self imposed cycle of death by their own blade.

shigure escapes to the outskirts of the outer rukongai districts, hiding from those who work for the central as well as the gotei 13. they are declared fugitive and an enemy to seireitei for their actions against the sumiyoshi noble family. instead of resting and letting their grievous wound heal, shigure continues her work investigating the noble houses for signs of corruption and involvement with the sumiyoshi family. survivors and collaborators of said noble family would be found dead in the streets of seireitei over the course of the next few weeks and months until one day, it simply stopped. it is unclear whether oku shigure finally succumbed to their injuries and died somewhere in the outer districts of rukongai or had finally, smartly and against their character - gone into hiding.

follows the same premise of the prisoner verse, where shigure - caught in their own bankai, is imprisoned by the central 46 for several decades and slowly poisoning the area around herself with her reiatsu until @za-baransu's jugram haschwalth forcefully breaks them out of it, recruiting them for their war. seeing an opportunity to hunt down those related to their betrayal and capture, as well as connections to the old central 46 - shigure accepts and joins the sternritter ranks.
